2020 Sponsor Feature: Cherrybomb Beauty Parlour

Perth babes in the know, know Cherrybomb Parlour – y’know?!

Michelle Moretta and her team know hair.  They’re known specialists in vintage styling, creating everything from waves to bold colours to bangs.

So we thought we’d ‘bang’ on about them, in their first year sponsoring PIBF!

We talked to Michelle about her business, and how to perfect your up ‘do for a special occasion!

Q: Tell me a little about Cherrybomb Parlour

Michelle: We are a quirky little hair and beauty salon devoted to sharing our knowledge & skills so our babes can have the hair goals achieved and maintain looking glam in-between visits, too.

With a passion for all things vintage, we have become hugely popular for our vintage styling and creating signature hair colours for our guests.  A friendly bunch who likes to have a laugh while we work and spoil our guests with delicious home-baked treats.  Old tunes playing, we are all about good old-fashioned service!

Q: Do you think a hairstyle completes a look?

Michelle: Oh my, yes!  If your hair isn’t right, well there is a reason we call it your crowning glory!

Hair makes a statement and it’s important that statement is right! Hair also reflects our mood.   It can empower us which is why so many gals want to cut it all off after a break-up or totally change the colour to get over sadness in their life.

Having bright red hair I always take that into consideration when dressing – especially for colour clashing or even just to coordinate my accessories/shoes with my hair as it’s so bold!

Q: What are some classic vintage hairstyles? Any tips or tricks for styling?

Michelle: There are a few!  The most popular would have to be the “Hollywood waves” made popular by Veronica Lake, the “pageboy” which is  Dita Von Teese’s signature hairstyle and of course, victory rolls!

So many tips!  We like hair to be super clean so we can dirty it up with product. Our essential products are setting lotion (we love Poison Apple Setting Lotion) hairspray, serum and pomade (Toffee Apple by Poison Apple is the best!).

To keep hair lasting as long as possible we recommend a super fine hair net for day time to keep in place, sleeping with a slumber net, and using a shower cap to keep any moisture at bay!

For curling, ensure you choose the right curling method – there are so many to choose from!  Wet sets, hot roller sets, tong sets, and dry setting with rollers overnight.  Different hair types require different setting methods.

Q: If you had to pick a hairstyle for the themes of our events, what would you pick and why?

Michelle: Such a tough choice!  black tie glamour would be my choice as we all about the glamour!  I love elegant vintage styles with gorgeous set curls and smooth waves.

Q: Cherrybomb will be working their magic on opening night, care to TEASE us a little with what you’re up to?

Michelle: We are doing 4 models with an avant-garde touch – we thought we would like to go a bit creative and wild showcasing a different side of us – with our vintage touch, of course!

We’re doing their hair and makeup to create the full glam look. We are planning on spending the night enjoying the entertainment and are super-duper excited.
