It’s 2021 – and less than eight weeks until we kick off our festival fabulousness!

We are exceptionally privileged again to be running a festival this year.

Festivals don’t happen by themselves – our festival is beautifully supported by many local volunteers.

2021 is no different.

Our Socials Secretary Lyra Lark is ready to kick off her work for our 2021 festival with two workshops for our PIBF volunteers this September!

You’re the fabulous almighty leader of our Volunteers, what’s happening for PIBF volunteers this year?

We have a whopping 40 applicants for 2021! Plenty of familiar faces are returning but we have a whole list of new people too! We kick off with two information sessions where we get to know each other and have some fun with hair demos, mentor presentations and a Swap & Sell! Volunteers represent PIBF throughout the festival. They are the first contact people have when they attend a show whether it be a sparkly showgirl greeting audience members or selling merchandise in the venue. They are SUPER important, and we honestly couldn’t run without them. They make us so proud.

Why is PIBF magical? What does it bring to the community?

PIBF creates a space for performers and community members alike to come together and celebrate. Everyone shares the same values of inclusivity and unhindered self-expression.

When everyone is under one roof for an event, you can feel the good vibes. It’s quite incredible seeing people hugging, smiling, laughing, and celebrating each other. Everyone has that special placeholder in their diaries year after year for PIBF!

How has PIBF changed over the years & what are you looking forward to in 2021?

I’ve been involved in PIBF since 2015 and each year is unique. The festival evolves and reinvents itself each year, allowing our loyal community to enjoy new things and the opportunity to experience a variety of talent which only gets better. This year I’m looking forward to seeing what the Best in the West has to offer. I think they’ll really up the ante for WA!

What do you love about being part of the Perth arts community?

This community grows together. We embrace change and learn from each other.

The arts are about celebrating people and ideas. I feel that PIBF is a leader in ensuring that the values and attitudes of the arts world are being strongly represented.

I have met some truly wonderful and interesting people on my own journey with PIBF and am grateful for the ways I’ve been challenged, supported, and entertained!

What tunes will be on your PIBF road trip playlist?

I adore anything you can sing-along to!

Anthems by Queen, Kacey Musgraves, Lizzo and I’m not going to lie to you…at least one Britney song will definitely make the cut.

Tickets are now live for the Tease Factory, Gala, Glitter Crash afterparty – don’t miss out on the fun, grab your tickets!
